Professor Jasna Prlić Kardum and research assistant Iva Zokić published two scientific papers on the crystallisation of active pharmaceutical ingredients. The first paper entitled Could drug availability be improved through shape modification was published in the journal Chemical Engineering & Technology and describes the influence of the process of spherical crystallisation on the release profiles of two active pharmaceutical ingredients: dronedarone hydrochloride and ceritinib.
Another paper was published in the journal ChemEngineering under the title Crystallization Behavior of Ceritinib: Characterization and Optimization Strategiesand was highlighted as the cover story of this issue. The paper discusses the selection of a solvent system for the crystallisation of the desired forms of ceritinib and the influence of the morphology of the resulting crystals on the subsequent filtration and drying processes.
